It's just Java2D, with some limitation(for exmaples: not support custom Paint which is not difficult to implemetion but not on my todo list), and some more feature like more Gadient, more Composite, Line Pattern.

Currently, I'm busy to port Batik to Spket2D, because if Batik can run on Spket2D, then others probably has no serious problem anymore...

Thanks

java2d performance

we are a Chinese software vendor, Wuxi Evermore Software. we are writing EIO(Evemore Integrated Office) using java. though tough,we've published some versions. our problem now is still the java painting performance. we have shortcut many swing painting routines, even some sun.* code. but we are not satisfied with the result.
AGG and your work of Spket2D seems very promising. i'm considering if we can switch all those advanced painting code to Spket2D because from your demo, the painting speed is really a high jump.

we are really looking forward to your good news.

regards.

It depends, for examples, currently Spket2D does not has font engine(I will port it to freetype in feature), so it use font.getOutline to render font, it is slow, and for small font it looks ugly.

Secondly, Java2D has vary backend(OpenGL, directx), so it suppose will take advantang of hw acceleration if you have good hardware, but I don't know it really help for real complex application like office, for example, Batik seem does not take any advantage of Java2D hw accel...

And IMO hw acceleration also not very useful for Office application, not too many company can offord morden computer to run office...

Isn't OpenOffice port some rendering engine to AGG?

Thanks
